Lyömätön Linja -service is intended to domestic violence perpretators and to those who fear they might use violence in their families or other intimate relationship. The service is meant for the citizens of Espoo and is held in Finnish. We are specialized in working with men.

Our domestic violence intervention programme begins with a conversation over the phone. Most of our clients contact us themselves. We start by setting up a meeting to our office. At the first meeting we set common goals to our journey together. One meeting lasts 45-60 minutes. Together with the client we agree on how long and how often he or she attends to individual meetings.

We also guide our clients´ spouses or other family members to find suitable services for them. We do the guiding over the phone and if needed we arrange a meeting. The meaning of the phone call is also to assess the situation in the family. Safety of the victim and children is the most important goal in our services. We also give advice on how to talk to the children about violence and  we help adults to find suitable service for the children.

As clients individual meetings proceed it is possible to join peer group called Veturi. Veturi is held in Finnish. The peer group lasts for 15 weeks, it assembles once a week on Tuesdays. One group session lasts 1,5 hours. Veturi is a group for men and it is led by male and female counsellor. A client can only join Veturi via individual meetings. Currently there is no group available for the female perpetratos.

Part of our domestic violence intervention programme is a follow-up. After the client has completed the programme we agree on meeting after six months. At that meeting the goal is to assess nonviolence and the current situation in the family.
